Last term we used funding to purchase new reading books so that we can refresh and revise the way we teach early reading in our schools. Mrs Newey is the Phonics Leader for the federation and will be working closely with Mr Scott to lead on this project.

The new early reading books have just arrived into schools and we are hoping that by the end of week 4 the new books will be stamped and ready to use. The new collection of home reading books is to help with the learning of phonics and to engage the children right from the start with a love for reading. Children
will have a phonics book to bring home, this book will correspond with the new sounds they are learning and introduce them to sounds yet to come.

Over the next few weeks we have staff training planned for all teachers and so there will be more information to share with parents around how we are developing a love of reading throughout our schools.
